To start the process, homebuyers are responsible for two key elements. First, you must qualify for a first mortgage loan through a lender. Second, you will need money for the down payment and closing costs, which is an obstacle for many homebuyers. Keystone often has down payment and closing cost assistance available through City of Lakeland SHIP, City of Winter Haven SHIP, and Polk County SHIP. After attending the course, it’s best to consider the following costs associated with owning a home.

Next, schedule an appointment with mortgage lender to be pre-qualified for first mortgage financing. To pre-qualify, certain factors will determine whether you’re qualified to purchase a home and your mortgage payment limit.

Finally, you’re prepared to begin working with a real estate agent. You will know your price range, monthly mortgage payment limit and how much it will cost to obtain the mortgage. As a pre-qualified homebuyer, you are increasing your chances of contract acceptance and buying a top-choice home.
